Green Bean Goodness

mmm...GREEN BEANS

I love green... most anything that grows in the ground... that said, when it comes to bringing side dishes, I have felt that maybe I ought not bring a dish of naked steamed broccoli or green beans to share... SO, Susan (sister of my sister-in-law) made these delicious garlic green beans when I was visiting last month... Did I mention...I LOVE them!? Why? They have been enjoyed by others who are less apt to dive into a plate of fresh green beans! PLUS, they are SO quick to make and they are DELICIOUSLY (NUTRITIOUS)!It takes about 10 minutes... Ingredients: about 1 lb. fresh (or frozen) green beans, 3 gloves minced garlic, 1/4 tsp. salt, pepper (white is best, but black is a fine substitute)

Directions:
  1. Steam green beans until glowing bright green (avoid over steaming) 3 +/- min
  2. Drain and place in a glass bowl
  3. Toss minced garlic + 1-2 TBS (not a lot is needed) olive oil in the pot to heat (releases the flavor of the garlic nicely)... I like doing this part but it's not essential- you can just toss it straight into the green beans without heating
  4. Sprinkle on the salt and pepper to taste
  5. Stir and ENJOY warm!
***WARNING.... If you're covering it to take to a gathering, it will continue to steam the greens if they have not cooled, so avoid covering until last minute or wait until cooled

Hey, good luck in the Ragnar DC coming up. The Wasatch Back is in about 5 weeks and I am excited to get the feedback of how your Ragnar goes.
